Why it happens

Young dogs have immature bladder control, big greetings overflow it. Submissive peeing is a related appeasement signal, not spite.

What works

Make arrivals boring: no eye contact, low voice, greet after 2 minutes outside if possible.
Greet crouched sideways instead of looming over the puppy.
Confidence work helps the submissive type: reward-based training, no scolding.

What makes it worse

Never punish it, punishment increases submissive peeing directly.
Do not let guests squeal over the puppy at the door, brief them first.

Keep this in mind

The majority of puppies simply outgrow this by 12 months as the bladder matures. Manage the entrance hall, not the dog.
